May 8 – 11, 2014 Youth Commission of Shimoga Diocese under the leadership of Diocesan youth Director Fr. Ronald Veigas organised III Diocesan Youth Convention at Sacred Heart Cathedral Premises of Shimoga. His Excellency Most Rev. Francis Serrao, Bishopf of Shimoga inaugurated the convention and offered Holy Mass and prayed for the success of the convention. ICYM National Director Fr. Franklin D’Souza from CBCI – Delhi, Fr. Charles Menezes YCS/YSM National Chaplian from Delhi and Fr. Marie Joseph Regional Youth Director of Karnataka were present and also took sessions. Key note address was delivered by Bishop Francis Serrao. In his Key note he spoke on the theme i,e., importance of family and role of the youth in today’s families. Fr. Franklin D’Souza introduced Bishop to the gathering and thanked him.
Sessions on; be my witnesses, Youth reality today and on employability were organised to enrich the youth. Praise and Worship, Taize Prayer was organised. Most Rev. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and Chairman of Karnataka Regional Youth Commission, CCBI Youth Commission, CBCI Council for Youth offered Mass on 10th May and encouraged youth. Peace rally was organised to create awareness that we the youth are for peace. ICYM Karnataka Regional Youth President Mr. Martin, YCS Regional Youth President Ms. Frivita were present. ICYM President of Shimoga Diocese thanked the participants. He specially thanked Diocesan youth Director Fr. Ronald Veigas and Diocesan Youth Lady Animator Sr. Nimpha AC.
