11th October, Jalandhar, Punjab: The seventh day of the ongoing IX National Youth Convention was very important as all the General Body Members of the ICYM came together to discuss and plan for the future of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement on 11th October here in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Mr. Savio Daniel, the National Vice President I of ICYM introduced the General Body Members and Miss Anita Tirkey, National Spokesperson I, read a Passage from the Gospel. After that there was lighting of the lamb by His Grace Leo Cornelio, Chairman CBCI Office for Youth, Most Rev. Jacob Mar Barnabas, Member, CBCI Office for Youth, Rev. Fr. Franklin, the National Youth Director and Miss. Olima Minj, the National Youth President, IYCM.

After the lighting of the lamp, Rev. Sr. Josephine Varghese, the National Youth Lady Animator, formally welcomed all the General Body Members to the meeting.


Rev. Fr. Franklin, speaking on the occasion said, “The responsibility of IYCM is given to me by the CBCI. I was happy in my Diocese. But we should never say no to what church asks us to do. Hence I accepted the responsibility. The journey has been a mixed journey with both ups and downs. There were constraints. I thank all the Directors for their support. With your Support and cooperation we were able to conduct 55 major events during the last three years.

Archbishop Leo Cornelio addressing the members stressed that ‘the theme of the convention should become a reality. You are the core members and only you can make it a reality. Without your motivation and cooperation, we cannot go ahead. Faith is to be lived by deeds. We need to go out in faith and live the faith to transform the world. That must be our aim and that is our responsibility.”

Miss. Olima, said “May this meeting become a fruitful discussion and may it lead us to a conclusion for the betterment of the society y and the Church.
Mr. Savio presented the agenda of the meeting and Miss. Shradha Kujur, National Secretary of ICYM read the General Report and FR. Rajesh, the RYD of Western Region passed it and Fr. Linus Marak from Tura seconded it.

Fr. Franklin, Mr. Philip, National Treasurer and Miss Asha Kindo, the National Asst. Treasurer presented the financial report of the ICYM and it was passed by Fr. Joseph from Pala Diocese and was seconded by Fr. Jins from Bijnoor Diocese.

The other Agendas, Yuva Gram, ICYM Website, World Youth Day, National Awardee, Next Election of ICYM in Kerala, YCS/YSM and FIMCAP were also discussed.

Miss Olima Minj thanked everyone at the end for their active participation in the General Body meeting.

There were 456 members present for the meeting.
