September 12, 2021 : Fr Vinay Kumar celebrated his thanksgiving Holy Eucharist at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga.

Fr Vinay Kumar was born on 28th November 1989. He completed his Primary School studies at Assumption School. He completed his High School studies at St. Mary's Davanagere. He did his PUC at Government College, Hiriyur. He completed his Degree at Venkateshwar College, Chitradurga. For two years he worked in the Assumption Primary School as a Substitute teacher.

Fr J.B. Castelino, Fr Anthony Peter and Fr S. Phillip inspired him to say 'yes' to the call of Jesus to become a priest. He joined Diocese of Chikmagalur as a candidate for priesthood and completed his studies at St. Joseph's Regional Seminary, Jeppu, Mangalore.

He did his regency at Alphonse Nagar and Diaconate ministry at CMSSS Social work Centre, Hassan. He was ordained by His Excellency Most Rev. Thiomasappa Anthonyswamy, Bishop of Diocese of Chikmagalur on 27th July 2021 at Hassan together with Fr Adarsh from Daasapura, Fr Avin Michael from Gaadenahaalli, Fr Nelson Nazareth from Vijayapura, Fr Santhosh Kumar G. from Magge, Fr Rayappa from Gaadenahaalli and Fr William Bernard D. From Alphonse Nagar.

At present he is appointed as Assistant Parish Priest at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Chikmagalur. He is also Regional coordinator for Vatican news in Kannada.

Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza welcomed Fr Vinay Kumar on behalf of the community. Fr Vinay Kumar celebrated thanksgiving Holy Eucharist and thanked God for his vocation and prayerful support and love of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Parishioners.

At the end of the Holy Eucharist Fr Franklin D'Souza together with the Parish Council and Religious Sisters felicitated Fr Vinay Kumar. Fr Vinay thanked everyone for helping him to climb the Altar of Lord Jesus.

Fr Franklin D'Souza led a small prayer of blessing together with the parishioners. Parishioners served breakfast for all.
