Shivamogga, March 20,2024 : Diocese of Shimoga is blessed with the newly built Church at Gopala, Shivamogga on 19th March, 2024.

Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga, Most Rev. Dr Henry D'Souza, Bishop of Diocese of Bellary, Most Rev. Dr Joseph Arumachadath, Bishop of Bhadravati, Most Rev. Dr Thomasappa Anthony Swamy, Bishop of Diocese of Chikmagalur, Most Rev. Dr Geevarghese Makarios Kalayil, Bishop of Diocese of Puttur and Most Rev. Msgr Duming Dias, Bishop Elect of Diocese of Karwar were present for the Inauguration & Blessing.

At 3:45pm Parish Priest of Good Shepherd Church Rev. Fr Vincent Veeresh Moras welcomed the dignitaries together with his parishioners. At 4:15pm Rev. Dr Joseph Arumachadath, Bishop of Bhadravati blessed the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. Most Rev. Dr Geevarghese Makarios Kalayil, Bishop of Diocese of Puttur, blessed the Stations of the Cross. Most Rev. Dr Thomasappa Anthony Swamy, Bishop of Diocese of Chikmagalur, blessed the main entrance of the Church and inaugurated the new Church with the Donors.

At 4:39pm Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga, offered thanksgiving Holy Eucharist & did the blessing of the new Church together with Bishops, Priests, Religious and a large number of faithful. Most Rev. Dr Henry D'Souza, Bishop of Diocese of Bellary, preached the homily. Most Rev. Msgr Duming Dias, Bishop Elect of Diocese of Karwar blessed the Adoration Chapel.

After the Mass at 7pm , a Felicitation program was held in front of the Church to honour the Donors.

Fr Arun Kumar MSFS, Assistant Parish Priest, Mrs. Lizzy Anthony, Secretary, Parish Pastoral Council and Mr Paul Goveas, Secretary, Parish Finance Council were present.

Rev. Fr Vincent Veeresh Moras, Parish Priest thanked everyone for their contribution and sacrifice in making the dream come true of the Diocese of Shimoga.

Meals was served for all.
