December 25,2021: Birth of Jesus - Christmas was celebrated in very meaningful way at Our Lady of Assumption Church,Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga

On December 24th 10:30pm to 11:30pm were the Carols singing by the Assumption choir. 11:30pm Fr Franklin D'Souza, Parish Priest celebrated Holy Eucharist and preached on "importance and meaning of incarnation and our witnessing for this incarnation". Assistant Parish Priest Fr Alphonse Nelson D'Souza concelebrated the Mass.

Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked Assumption youth for their efforts in preparing a beautiful and meaningful crib. He also appreciated them for participating in WYD conducted at Shivamogga on November 21st and securing three first places and a second. He honoured Mr. Sebastian Vinod for "YUVA KEERTI 2021" award which he received for his dedicated services to the Diocese and the Parish youth activities.

Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked all the donors for their support in celebrating the Christmas and all those helped through their dedicated services.

On 25th morning at 9am Fr Alphonse Nelson D'Souza celebrated the mass and preached a apt homily on the occasion.

At 11:30am Ex MLA Sri Sudhakar visited the church and offered prayers also he met Fr Franklin D'Souza the Parish Priest. Fr Franklin D'Souza welcomed him with a shawl, then he cut the cake and celebrated Christmas. Councellor Smt Magdala Maria organised the program.

In the evening people visited the illuminated church with special lightings and offered their prayers.
