January 1,2023: Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga celebrated the feast of Mary Mother of God and New Year 2024.

Faithful gathered in the Church around 10:30pm on December 31st, 2023. At 11pm Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza led the Adoration. During the Adoration he thanked God God the year 2023. He led the Repentance session as well as anointing session. At the end of the Adoration he led the healing prayers.

Holy Eucharist started at midnight. After the entrance hymn Fr Franklin D'Souza read the decree of the Year of Youth 2024, given by the Diocesan Bishop. Then he inaugurated the year of youth together with ICYM President Mr. Anjoe P. J and YCS President Mr. Vijay.

Fr Ronald Furtado OCD, Director of Prerana Seva samsthe, Jagalur, was the main celebrant of the midnight mass. In his homily he spoke on Mary Mother of God and her life in yhe plan of salvation. How she is the brand for us in New Year 2024. He spoke about the decisions that we make and determination to keep them in our lives.

Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked everyone who helped for the success of the feast.

After the Mass youth symbolically burnt the effigue and welcomed new year 2024.
